SPARTANBURG, S.C. – JP Carlton recently introduced the 1712 12-inch disk style wood chipper. At 5400 pounds, the 1712 is towable by smaller chip trucks. The lightweight and compact size of the 1712 makes it highly maneuverable in tight places.
The Carlton Model 1712 incorporates a 48-inch by 28-inch infeed opening allowing it to swallow tops with little or no trimming. The 10 ½-inch diameter feed rollers accept the wood with minimal wrapping. The industries largest 32-cubic-inch displacement hydraulic feed motors provide the power to pull and collapse limbs and tops.
Live hydraulics run the hydraulic pump directly off an integral engine plug-in, minimizing maintenance as there is no pump belt to maintain and no side loading of the pump shaft. A digital adjustable autofeed monitors engine RPM. This system has the ability to start and stop the feed of the material into the chipper automatically based on parameters set by the operator. |
